Project overview

I designed a mobile app for the Lumière cinema, focusing on creating a simple and intuitive user experience.

The goal was to design an app that makes the main things a cinema visitor needs (discovering movies, watching trailers and buying tickets) simple and intuitive.

02

My role

Solo project: I did the research, applied UX laws and principles, and designed both the low and high fidelity prototypes.

03

Research

For research and inspiration, I looked at existing cinema websites and apps (Kinepolis, Pathé and UGC) to understand how cinema visitors browse movies, find information and buy tickets.

04

UX process

I designed the app around the main actions a cinema visitor needs, such as discovering movies, watching trailers and buying tickets. Throughout the interface, I deliberately applied UX laws and principles to organise information, make interactions more intuitive and create a familiar, consistent experience:

  • Fitts’s Law
  • Jakob’s Law
  • Law of Proximity
  • Miller’s Law
  • Tesler’s Law
  • Peak-End Rule
  • Law of Feedback
  • Zeigarnik Effect
  • Law of Uniform Connectedness
  • Law of Consistency

Low fidelity designs

The wireframes cover the whole journey: browsing films, choosing a showtime and seats, buying tickets with a QR code, favourites, reviews and a profile.

06

High fidelity designs

My first high fidelity version was designed on a layout grid. I then refined it into the final design, in both a light and a dark theme.

07

Final result

With the app, visitors can see which movies are currently showing, watch trailers, choose their favourite cinema location and save their favourite movies. They can also buy tickets online and use other cinema related features.

Reflection

This project helped me understand how UX laws can be applied directly to interface design, instead of only being theory. I also learned how to develop an idea from a low fidelity prototype into a complete high fidelity mobile app.

If I did the project again, I would do more usability testing to see how real users interact with the final prototype.

let’s create
together.

I’m looking for an internship from February to May 2027 where I can learn, contribute and grow. Have a project or a spot on your team? I’d love to hear from you.
